The 2005 Mercurey La Bois de Lalier Vieilles
Vignes displays striking aromas of ripe black cherry and
walnut oil, saturates the palate with black cherry, nut
oils and fresh meatiness, and finishes with sweet, ripe
fruit accented by attractively bitter suggestions of toasted
nuts and cherry pit. This is a broader, more obviously rich
wine than Dureuil’s vintage 2005 Rullys, but no less
clear and pure. -Wine Advocate

2005 Rully 1er Cru
Wine Advocate 91 Points
From Les Cloux and Margotey, Dureuil’s
2005 Rully 1er Cru offers tart red raspberry laced with
ginger and hints of flowers and honey in the nose. Displaying
on the palate sappy, energetic intensity of bright fruit
along with rich marrowy underlying meatiness, this finishes
with precision and formidable length, and with a bit more
richness than the other Rullys (none of which, incidentally,
are much over 13% in alcohol). -Wine Advocate

2005 Nuits St Georges
les Argillieres

From a choice section of 65-year-old
vines above Premeaux Prissey acquired through his in-laws,
Dureuil’s 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges Clos des Argilieres
displays aromas raw of raw beef liver that approaches Cornas-like
intensity and vivid bloodiness, along with intensely ripe
black cherry, wood smoke, and distinctly wet stone minerality.
A similar fruit-animal-mineral trio – augmented by
pungent brown spices – dominates this wine’s
intensely rich and sappy but firmly structured, dense palate,
and these flavors cling with memorable tenacity. Lock this
away for 7-10 years. -Wine Advocate
