If you thought
last year’s “Evelyn” was awesome, just wait
until you taste the 2005. The 05 version of this wine gives
you everything you want from a Pinot, and more. The grapes
are sourced from a small block of the Bien Nacido vineyard,
high up in the Santa Maria Valley , with very desirable south-west
exposure. Then only the best barrels are selected for the
“Evelyn” cuvee. From the minute the cork is extracted
there is a deluge of aromatics that pour out of the bottle.
The perfumed bouquet features ubiquitous fruit aromas of blueberry,
pomegranate, black currant and black raspberry. Following
up the perfumed fruit notes are aromas of coffee liqueur,
cassis, black truffle, Madagascar vanilla bean, milk chocolate
and violets. Not to be outdone, the palate offers up a bounty
of mouth-coating, expansive fruit that is rich and powerful.
While the “Evelyn” exudes intensity and power,
it is not without nuance, featuring amazing depth and mind-blowing
complexity. The bright acidity and ripe, well-integrated tannins
are the perfect fulcrum to support and balance out the copious
fruit and lends the wine perfect focus and clarity. Add a
velvety tactile component and perpetually long finish and
there you have the 2005 Tantara Evelyn Pinot. Indulge yourself

Tantara Pisoni Vineyard

The Pisoni Vineyard nestled
in the mountainous area of the Santa Lucia Highlands , over
1200 feet in elevation and primarily east facing. The vineyard
is considered to be among the very best vineyards for growing
Pinot Noir on the Central Coast , not to mention the whole
of California . When you pair this superior vineyard site
with a superior wine maker like Tantara then you are likely
to come out with something amazing and that is just what the
2005 Tantara Pisoni is, amazing! The bouquet is powerful,
but perfumed, rife with fragrant notes of black currant, blueberry,
plum, and cassis in the fore, bolstered by nuances of lavender,
tuberose, gingerbread, violets, caramel, crème brulee,
Arabian Mocha Java coffee, and anise. Perfumed, doesn’t
even begin to describe the tantalizing aromatic profile. The
palate features a bounty of creamy, velvety textured fruit
that wields power and finesse at the same time, masking the
Pisoni vastly complex. The well-integrated tannins, bright
acidity and rich fruit integrate perfectly to give the Pisoni
perfect balance and symmetry, as well as an eternally long

2005 Tantara La Colline
Vineyard

Tantara has done it again, with another
masterful La Colline. The grapes are from the Laetitia vineyard,
situated in the Arroyo Grande Valley . The soil is a blend
of limestone, clay and volcanic rock which comes from its
proximity, being at the base of the extinct volcano of Picacho
Peak . It oozes with perfumed aromas of pure pomegranate juice,
blackberries, black raspberries, freshly roasted coffee beans,
dark chocolate, sarsaparilla, cola, licorice, violets and
vanilla bean. Every sniff in the glass reveals a metamorphosis,
each time revealing new delights for the olfactory senses.
The palate is vibrant and multifaceted, featuring a generous
helping of luscious, juicy fruit, great depth and excellent
lift. The La Colline is generously proportioned and kept at
